Interview // Cristina Armesilla

Madrid artist Cristina Armesilla enjoys playing with materials in search of the best way to represent her personal experiences through shapes.

Through mathematical diagrams, she transforms the ideas into geometric figures with which she later works to compose the final shapes of the jewels.

In the collection "Iridescences", each geometric figure represents a place in her city that has been part of her development as an artist. The precision of the internal metal structure is set against the unpredictable color effects on her jewelry to create a symbol of the changing and dreamlike subjective experience.

Most influential person in your life?

My brother

Tried and true methods against creative block?

When I get blocked I usually need to go out, have fun and disconnect. Inspiration always comes back and then it’s more of an exercise of perseverance and hard work than anything else.
