Interview // Michi @iheartberlin

Michalina is a blog writer, covering everything from current events and city guide entries, to more obscure subjects. She also writes essays based on more personal experiences of Berlin. Always ready to dig into the city’s past. Last year, she condensed bits and pieces of all these kinds of content for the purposes of “Like a Berliner” – the iHeartBerlin guide to the city created in collaboration with Sophia Halamoda.

Where are you originally from and what brought you to Berlin?

I’m originally from a town in central Poland. I came to Berlin to study.

What is your favorite place (restaurant, cafe, bar, etc.) in Berlin and why?

I really like Schwarzes Cafe in Charlottenburg - it has a very unique vibe that harkens back to the 70s.

Do you have an everyday ritual?

Not at all! As a matter of fact, my schedule for the past few years has prevented me from establishing any actual daily routine.

What project or plan of yours are you most looking forward to in the near future?
I’m definitely looking forward to getting my Bachelor’s degree in North American Studies and Russian.

Who is the most influential person in your life?
 Probably my best friend Kamila!

What are your tried and true methods against creative block?
Just the right amount of procrastination.

What designers, artists, musicians, or places inspire you?
I’ve always been inspired by the prime movers of pop culture, particularly Elvis and David Bowie.
