We spent the last week gushing over new SS18 collections that premiered on the runway, sourcing new labels to collaborate with at various fashion trade shows, and partying it up with the beautiful people of Berlin Fashion Week. It's been draining, but so, so worth it. Here's a little recap we put together for you. Come join us as we relive that hectic, dizzying, wonderful week!
Day 1
We started our fashion week adventures at Kaufhaus Jandorf with Ivanman. Lacing details functioned as colourful accents to the iconic Ivanman vest. The starkly blue motif and the subtle movements of exaggerated cords made this collection hard to forget, and was the perfect appetizer to our week.
We lent a helping hand backstage at the Ioana Ciolacu show later on, and got rewarded with a fantastic line of gorgeous pleats, flowy blouses, and shimmery translucent materials that could make a unicorn swoon.
Day 2
We spent the day preparing for our FASHION WEEK + BIRTHDAY PARTY, and day quickly gave way to night as we sipped on yummy gin and tonics courtesy of Monkey 47 and beers thanks to Paulaner Zwickl.
Berlin DJ Machine Woman supercharged our dancing shoes before handing the torch over to Martin Hekier of musical trio trtr. Some of us were lucky enough to nab some yummy savoury treats from Spice Invader, and some got a hold of our spectacular goody bags that featured our favourite organic coconut products from Tropicai and gorgeous smelling scents from Frau Tonis Parfum.
Day 3
We were all feeling a little... fragile, let's say, the morning after, but no time was to be wasted as there were trade shows to attend where we had treasure troves of new designers to discover. We attended Premium, where we found a colourful array of fresh designs and interesting concepts, then we jetted across town to Seek, where we managed to refrain from taking a soak at Badeschiff right next door and instead focus on the plethora of refreshing labels at our disposal.
From there, we weathered the traffic and made it down to Funkhaus Berlin for the Greenshowroom, where we learned about incredible eco-conscious processes including sustainable fabrics made from algae.
And as the day wound to an end, we felt that we deserved to kick back with a beer and enjoy the Spree as it sparkled in the afternoon sunshine. It made us feel a little less fragile.
Day 4
The last official day of Berlin Fashion Week started off for us with the colourful, near-psychedelic patterns of Raquel Hladky and her show "Motorbabes". The aesthetic screamed "va-va-vroom", and the collection came together like a jolt of caffeine for us that morning.
Next, we stayed around in time to see the new Franziska Michael collection with their throwback to the 70's with ruffles and flares, while staying true to their unisex nature.
The last show we attended was Odeur, the Swedish label that could out-cool anyone. Decisive cuts at the elbows and colour-patch details against a backdrop of oversized and unisex pieces inspired by athletic wear defines their newest avant garde collection, and leaves us with the anticipation of future shows.
We ended the week at the Ottolinger party at Soho House, where we feasted on delicious cocktails by Our/Vodka. We felt spoiled and happy for being surrounded by such beautiful people and designs, and now we can't wait for next season!
